a little over a week before painting this
a single, beautiful white rose
came to me in a dream.
in an unspoken, soul-to-soul way,
a person in the dream
gave it to me
as a way of saying,
"from my heart to yours,
I know you will find what you seek
and that which seeks you
will find you too."
it was the sweetest, loveliest gesture
and a very beautiful way of saying
goodbye, lovely.
I painted this to capture that beauty
after deciding the lone rose needed company,
especially that of new blooms
emerging with a great ease of longing
to burst forth with new love
when the time is ripe.
